The Trouble with Myths

In a kingdom faraway,

That’s where I met my prince

He rode in on dragon back

We’ve been together ever since

The problems started way back when

He brought home a unicorn

Three blind mice and Father Time

Seven imps, a mermaid and a Norn

Father Time and the Norn simply can’t agree

So now I sit and bite my nails

As imps insult the unicorn

And mice bite mermaids’ tails

I never thought it would be so bad,

This isn’t what I thought it would be

A free-thinking ogre has joined our group

And now we all live inside of a tree

Now Prince Charming’s turned Mad Hatter

A leprechaun’s stolen our gold

A vampire flew in on gryphon back

Can you believe the story I’ve told?

I’ve begged Mother Nature to make it all right

To fix the mistakes of two awkward jokers

Who thought they could handle the legends and myths

Made true to life with one hocus-pocus

After all that, we still stayed together

Moved out of the tree and into a castle

Got rid of the myths and had babies instead

I assure you it’s much less of a hassle
